Soft Wood

Pinus elliottii is a species of pine tree composed of two distinct varieties: Pinus elliottii var. elliottii and Pinus elliottii var. dense, originating in the New World. It is part of the pine species group with distribution range in Canada and the United States (except areas adjacent to the Mexican border). There are many areas of reforestation with this type of pine in South America, especially in the southern states of Brazil.

The most planted species in Brazil are: taeda Pine, elliotti Pine (which tolerate frost), caribaea Pine var. hondurensis, oocarpa Pine and tecunumanii Pine (these tolerate water deficit), with most of the plantations located in the south of the country, being the taeda and elliotti species the most common in national exports market.
